For over sixty years, Troop 28 has been building young men of excellent character through Scouting. We stress leadership, personal responsibility, fun, friendship and outdoor adventures.
Youth who have earned the Arrow of Light rank and are at least 10 years old, or have completed the fifth grade and are at least 10, or who are 11, but not yet 18 years old are welcome to join Troop 28.
For grades K - 5, contact Burlingame or Hillsborough CUB SCOUT Packs. 1) https://www.troopwebhostcs.org/Pack128Burlingame/Index.htm 2) https://www.facebook.com/hillsboroughcubs Pack 58
We are grateful to be sponsored by Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, 415 El Camino Real, Burlingame. Our troop meetings are generally held the first and third Monday of each month, from 7 - 8:15 pm. Click on Contact Us if you're interested in learning more about Troop 28 or would like to attend one of our meetings.
Our troop is Scout-led, and our adult staff is highly trained. Our emphasis is on quality, not quantity, and we achieve good results by having the parents of our Scouts reinforce the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law at home. Our parent group has high participation in providing the scaffolding for the scouts to build the program on.
Our troop is engaged in camping, hiking, backpacking, river rafting, skiing and service projects. We practice the patrol method, and emphasize creating experiences that are both meaningful and memorable. Our troop culture practices what we call the straight A’s: attendance, appearance, activity, advancement, accountability, and awards.

COLOR GUARD. Also, because of the great performance, last year, the Town has requested that Troop 28 supply a Scout Color Guard to present the Colors (short flag ceremony) on stage at the Crocker School Field immediately after the Parade (11:00-11:15 a.m.)
We need three (3) senior Scouts for the Color Guard.

Parents - Daryl Thomas will be conducting Youth Protection Training (YPT) during the parents meeting June 4th starting at 7pm. The new YPT is mandatory for all parents attending summer camp - no matter how many hours or days you will be there. The new training started February 2018, so even if you have taken the class within the last 2 years, you will need to take this new class.

More info: The Golden Gate National Cemetery is one of a number of National Cemeteries authorized by the United States Congress in the 1930’s and finished in the 1940’s. Construction began in 1937 with the first internments in 1941. Golden Gate National Cemetery is built on the former location of Jersey Dairy, which was owned by the Sneath Family.
California Attorney General, Earl Warren, later governor of California and Chief Justice of the United States, was the keynote speaker at the opening ceremony. Golden Gate National Cemetery is one 131 National Cemeteries located in 39 states. The cemetery grounds are the final resting place of over 137,000 servicemen and women, set on 161 acres.
As befitting the final resting place of our nation’s valiant servicemen and women, please ensure that all members of your group conduct themselves in a dignified and reverent manner. No running is allowed. Park in designated areas only. Obey all signs and follow all traffic instructions. No bicycles or pets are allowed onsite (service animals excepted).
Tips: • Establish a Central Meeting Place for your group • Carry your Unit Flag so that you can be easily spotted or identified • Use FRS/GMRS frequency radios to communicate with each other • Establish a protocol if you or your group gets LOST or SEPARATED • Bring a small Snack and a Water Bottle (Practice “Leave No Trace!”)
As many of you know, the scouts will be constructing their bottle rockets at our next meeting on May 7th for our upcoming bottle rocket launch on Sunday May 20th. Remember to bring a 2 liter bottle (empty please), a funnel or small cone for the top of the rocket, and a material to make fins (cardstock, plastic, etc.). Materials such as hot glue and duct tape will be provided at the meeting, but feel free to bring your own if possible. Finally, make sure to bring some materials for decorating your bottle rocket, as there will be a “Best Design” award along with "Longest Flight" and "Highest Flight" award. We look forward to seeing you there! Check this link out if you want to read up about making the ideal rocket.

We'll start from the Cemetery Gate entrance by initially meeting at the turnout on north side of Highway 92 at Upper Skyline Blvd, just before the entrance to Skylawn Cemetery. We'll hike in for 3-4 miles along 10 foot service road in the dense cypress pine forest and emerge along the ridge for spectacular views of the Bay. Bring a daypack, lunch, and water. Wear good hiking shoes, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen. We will leave from the turnout no later than 8:45 and cannot return for stragglers (so plan to arrive at 8:30).
