On December 17th, from 7:00 to 8:30, Troop 28 will be hosting our Holiday Potluck and Dinner Party at St. Paul's Church! We ask that you contribute to this event to make it as exciting as possible! We have divided up our Troop into three sections for food to bring:
If your last name starts with A - H, please bring an entree for 6-8 people
If your last name starts with I - P, please bring dessert for 6-8 people
If your last name starts with Q-Z, please bring a side dish for 6-8 people
Also, if you are a scout and plan on participating in our traditional holiday gift exchange, please purchase a gift of up to 15$ in value to trade amongst your fellow scouts. Last year almost all of the boys participated!
We ask if two adults and 3-5 scouts help to set up this event, although more are always welcome! Please RSVP on the Troop Website if you'd like to help out.
If you are a First Class, Star, or Life Scout and need a position of responsibility, this weekend is a must! All Scouts who are currently in leadership roles or will be starting a leadership role this year should attend this trip. In order to show leadership for Star, Life, and Eagle ranks, you must be active (attending a majority of the outings and meetings) in a position of responsibility.
We're trying something new this year! We'll have many objectives for this trip, mostly centered around strengthening the current and future youth leaders in the Troop:
Setting a guiding vision for the Troop over the next year
Clarifying the responsibilities for the PLC roles
A new approach to ILST (i.e., not PowerPoint!)
Improving communication between the youth and adult leaders
Determining how to best support the revised Patrols
Developing an approach for having older Scouts help the new Scouts get to First Class
Planning upcoming events
In addition to the Leadership focus, you can also complete some outstanding requirements for yourself:
Camping nights (for merit badge requirements and OA eligibility)
Only 6% of all Scouts achieve the rank of Eagle. You can do it, but it takes perseverance, determination, and most of all, a good sense of TIME MANAGEMENT.
We will be hosting a "Life to Eagle" class Zoom Meeting for Life Scouts, potential Life Scouts, and their parents. We want to make sure that you are on track and learn what it takes to navigate through the process. Parents - your son's success is dependent on your support and letting them give Leadership to others!
