Hello Troop 28, Welcome to another exciting year of scouting!
It’s time once again for the Scout troop dues. For everyone except the Eagle Scouts, we request that you submit $275 for annual troop dues. These dues cover campsite reservations, supplies and equipment, merit badges, food, chartering, and other expenses. This year we are making a special offer to our Eagle Scouts. We know that as an Eagle, you may not be able to participate in as many troop functions as you had in the past however your involvement is very valuable to the troop, as mentors and leaders to the younger scouts. To help make that decision easier, we have decided to offer a special “Eagle only” reduced fee. For anyone who has achieved Eagle Scout, these dues have been reduced to only $75.
You have the following payment options:
• Deliver a check for $275 made out to “BSA Troop 28” to 1630 Balboa Ave, Burlingame, CA 94010 or bring to the next troop meeting.
As we reflect this weekend to remember those who have done so much to keep our country strong, please honor all of those who have given their lives to protect us.
There are a couple of significant updates this week:
Camp Royaneh will open on July 19, so the week Troop 28 had reserved (July 5-11) has been cancelled. There is a possiblility that we could attend during a later week, but we are awaiting further details on logistics. Once we have enough detail to discuss, we will share it and will schedule a call for interested parties to discuss. 100% refunds will be available to those who would like to skip camp this summer.
Due to uncertainty in how this summer and fall will unfold, we have postponed our annual planning meeting from today (May 24) to the afternoon of June 21. PLC members should reserve that date to help develop next year's calendar.
We will discuss safety precautions for Pinnacles this week to either ensure a safe event or to make a decision to cancel.
Pinnacles is still on track. Please continue working on your medical forms and training hikes!
Advancement:
Scoutmaster Conferences and Boards of Review must be completed by May 25 for recognition at the next Court of Honor on June 1. See below for a link to request these virtual meetings.
Court of Honor preparation and practice will be on May 31 -- this is a great opportunity for Scouts to work on Communications Merit Badge requirement #8.
VIrtual Court of Honor will be June 1 during the Troop Meeting.
No Monday meeting this week -- no Troop meeting, no Viking meeting, no Parents' meeting, no Committee meeting. Enjoy this time with your family!
